These artifacts reflect my Native American heritage— my birth in Oklahoma on the Cherokee Reservation, my Grandfather, who was Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, my current work as a Board Member of the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian—and for years these images have informed my poetry.

I advocate for better understanding of how we have treated Native Americans, their voices in today’s world, and the wisdom and gifts they can offer us.
