The Lake County Mall of History / Bringing the World Home
This 8,000 square feet exhibit was part of a demonstration project of the American Association of Museums, whose aim was to dramatically increase audience size through innovative exhibits and programming. Exhibits allow visitors to 'shop' for ideas, stories and images in a familiar mall setting. Exhibits also highlighted the museum's Teich Archives, the world's largest collection of postcards. Since the exhibit's opening in 2000, the museum has moved to downtown Libertyville and was renamed the Dunne Museum; these exhibits no longer exist. The Teich postcard archives are now part of the Collection of the Newberry Library.
