Voyages: Exploring the History of the St. Joseph Valley
This permanent exhibit applied an anthropological and material culture approach to regional history. In the 'Material Matters' gallery, we highlighted over 500 artifacts, showing similarities and differences across time. The dredge boat shown here tells the story of how dredging what had been a bountiful wetland, filled with animals and fish, made it possible to create similarly bountiful farmland. It's a complex story.
