As I become older, I am beginning to see beauty in chaos, in the random display of branches, in an uncertain sense of surface. A play of light or a deep reflection becomes an invitation. I am continually amazed at the variety in shape, color and form; in the quiet of these jumbles. I seem to have stumbled into spirituality, into an appreciation of the variety and improbability of existence.

Photography freezes both time and perception. I remember the feelings, the circumstances, the light of images made both long ago and far away. For me, photography is a way to stop the world, to force a personal order onto the whirlwind that surrounds us. This seems especially meaningful now.
