An Uncommon Man
This 12,000 square foot exhibit separates fact from myth to tell the story of the man who presided over the Great Depression. Created in close collaboration with the staff of the Presidential Library, the exhibit uses both traditional techniques and interactive media. Hoover tried to alert Pres. Coolidge that Wall Street was teetering but he was ignored. So we built a facade of Wall Street, propped up like a theater set. We created a 'How Did He Do?' game that asks visitors their opinion of his presidency; whatever they select, they are shown the opposite. And here we used symbols to create an environment showing Hoover's remarkable regulatory strategies, borne from his engineering background.
