Motor City: The Industry and the Workers
An interpretive exhibit on the history of Detroit and its people, including a working "body drop" assembly line, over 50 feet long, salvaged from a closed Cadillac plant. The exhibit also includes light, sound and a set of sequenced audio-visual presentations. One section of the exhibit, entitled A New Job/A Better Life, explores in depth the experiences of three working families over several generations in the auto industry. teller|madsen worked closely with the museum staff to develop exhibit concepts, media and do historical research. Additionally, we worked with a local engineering firm to design a mezzanine deck over the body drop for future exhibits.
